Encounter between cultures and sustainability: proposal for the blended learning of tourist guides
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study is based on the creation of a conceptual framework in order to promote the development of intercultural competence of tourist guides in their professional performance. This competence and its development have not been adequately addressed in language training and improvement for professionals in the Cuban tourism sector, specifically, German-speaking tour guides. This work focuses on outlining the theoretical component of a didactic-methodological conception for the promotion of sustainability in the environment and from this promoting stimulating the development of intercultural competence in tourist guides, by making use of the theory of mediation in its work context and exchange with clients of German-speaking origin. The article opens with a new definition of intercultural competence and proposes to assume models that range from blended to face-to-face, according to the current characteristics assumed in the design of activities within the training. These activities are aimed at understanding and respecting the environment in tourist facilities in the Cuban context.
