Diseminated high- grade cutaneous mast cell tumor: Case report

Abstract

Introduction: skin neoplasms in canines are the most frequent tumors in the veterinary clinic, being mastocytoma the most common skin cancer of this species, representing 14 – 21 % of all skin tumors diagnosed in dogs, and it is a neoplasm caused by mast cells. Objective: details of a  clinical case of cutaneous mastocytoma of high degree disseminated in the city of Cuenca in the Province of Azuay, in a patient of canine species, Yorkshire Terrier breed, 6 years old, uncastrated of 2.3kg of weight, which comes to consultation to the veterinary clinic "Patas" of the city of Cuenca for presenting intense pruritus,  ulcers, erythematous areas and firm nodules of approximately 2 cm by 2 cm with an approximate evolution time of 2 weeks, nodules found in the nose, nose, eyelids, flanks, foreskin, foreskin and hind limbs.  Methodology: this research is documentary and descriptive, for which a methodology was established for collecting chronological data from the case study of high-grade cutaneous astocytoma disseminated in a canine, with laboratory tests and medical reports. Results: performed a biopsy, obtaining as a result in the histopathological study a presumptive diagnosis of high-grade mastocytoma, subsequently performed the special Toluidin Blue stain for the differential diagnosis of cutaneous lymphoma and cutaneous reactive histiocytosis, a test that confirmed the diagnosis of a case of high-grade cutaneous mastocytoma. Conclusions: it is important to reach the definitive diagnosis through special tests such as immunohistochemistry or special stains such as toluidine blue, an important part of the treatments is oncological surgery which was limited by the dissemination at the integumentary level of the patient.
