Abstract

Ecuadorian higher education institutions have a great commitment in the performance of significant challenges imposed by the vertiginous development of society. Among these challenges, the need to use university management approaches that give greater relevance to the educational institution stands out. This paper seeks to highlight the hierarchy of the evaluation of the management of the different processes and the strategic direction in each institution of higher education. Strategic management in the Ecuadorian university context has become a gradual practice. This approach is structured in three processes that are interconnected, each with specific characteristics. Each of them brings quality to the development of effectiveness and the application of a management approach. An adequate evaluation of the strategic direction oriented to its improvement and innovation implies that planned processes must be put into practice, detailed in an Improvement Plan and that they will be guided in each of the methodological steps that are developed to fulfill the designed tasks; which will also be supervised to guarantee the quality of their compliance.
