Abstract

Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders have increased, being the main health problem of professional origin causing work absenteeism. Dentists are exposed to ergonomic risks due to forced postures when performing their work. Methodology: The methodology was based on the analysis of ergonomic risks associated with musculoskeletal disorders in dentists. It was observational, qualitative and descriptive, cross-sectional, in 30 dentists of the health district of Cañar in the year 2022. Results: The Nordic questionnaire determined musculoskeletal complaints and the REBA method assessed the risk due to forced postures. It was found that, in the last 12 months, they presented symptoms in the neck (90%), lumbar region (86.7%) and wrist (63.3%). The results of the REBA method indicate high risk (50%), very high risk (33.3%) and medium risk (16.7%). Conclusion: The results obtained in the evaluation indicate different degrees of risk: in the neck (very high risk), lumbar region and wrist (high risk).
